Baby Shark Minis & Floral Thank Yous

We recently experienced the end of an era – our Bean said goodbye to his first ever daycare. (He’s loving his new one already, by the way!) We wanted to leave in style, so I made these sweet floral Thank You cards for his favorite teachers and a mini Baby Shark card to give to each of the kids who were in the room with him. (It seemed only right considering that’s where he became obsessed with the song… doo doo doo.)

I kept it simple for the Thank You cards. Using my Misti, I stamped out and die cut 3 sets of Altenew’s Always There flowers in Lawn Fawn inks.

For the background, I used Simon Says Stamp’s You Matter background stamp on Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock in Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink. I felt like the tone-on-tone was still a bit too vibrant, so I stamped the sentiment from the same Altenew stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed the “Thank You for Everything” in white embossing powder. I layered all the bits together and completed it all with card bases made with Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb.

Now for the adorable (and most time consuming) part of this post… the Baby Shark mini cards!

For the ocean background, I took a full 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. Index and ink blended Distress Oxides with my Taylored Expressions blending brushes. I spot blended in Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean, and Dusty Concord then spritzed the whole thing with little sprays of water to oxidize in those cool, bubble-like spots.

Once I dried the whole sheet completely (I was impatient and dried it with my heat gun instead of just waiting for it to dry naturally), I cut the full sheet into small squares for the backgrounds.

The sharks were stamped and cut using the Lawn Fawn Duh Nuh stamps and dies with one bit of customization. The stamp set itself comes with the big shark and a little fish, not a baby shark. I found this excellent YouTube tutorial from Yainea that allowed me to custom make the little babies! It did mean I had to fussy cut 10 adorable baby sharks, but it was worth the hassle!

I colored them using Copic Markers C1, C3, and C5, plus a hint of BG10 for the bubbles and mounted them to the ocean background with foam squares.

The banner and sentiment were stamped on Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock in Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink using the “Duh Nuh” sentiment from the stamp set. Everything was mounted to card bases made from Lawn Fawn No. 2 cardstock.

Finally, I made each of the matching envelopes using a Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scallops paper pack and my We R Memory Keepers 1-2-3 Punch Board.
